Incoming 2023-2024 Kindergarten Class

It’s time to start your child’s journey through elementary school!

If your child was born in 2018 and lives in New York City, they are eligible to attend kindergarten in fall 2023.

Follow the instructions below, and add your child to our waitlist.

You can apply in one of three ways:  

Kindergarten offers are released in the spring. Your offer letter states where your child will go to kindergarten in the fall. It also includes information about waitlists, including where your child is waitlisted, if applicable.

Only families who receive an offer letter to attend PS 185 can register during the open enrollment period. If you did not receive an offer letter from the DOE, but would like your child to attend PS 185 - please add your child to our waitlist.


Step 1:  Accept your offer on

Step 2:  Complete and submit registration documents to

Step 3:  In-person meeting to finalize registration (child must attend). Appointment scheduled upon receipt of paperwork.

Step 4:  Kindergarten orientation meeting. Details will be emailed to you upon completion of steps 1-3.

Please DOWNLOAD and SAVE the required documents below to your desktop.  These are fillable documents, but you must download and save them to your desktop BEFORE you fill them in.  It's important you follow this step, otherwise you will be emailing blank forms. 







In addition, please scan and email the following required documents:

  • Proof of Age (scan/take picture of birth certificate)

  • Proof of Residency (scan/take picture of TWO proofs of residency)*

  • Immunization Record **

  • Photo Identification of the parent/guardian submitting the paperwork

  • Copy of IEP (if applicable)

Please complete the required forms and submit along with the supporting documentation to:

**IMMUNIZATION RECORDS:  You must submit proof of immunization for your child to attend school. All students must meet the requirements for:  DTaP (diphtheria- tetanus-pertussis), poliovirus, MMR (measles-mumps-rubella), varicella and hepatitis B vaccines.
